The UAE humanitarian story in Yemen: paper

A UAE paper has said that the reasons for the country's military efforts in Yemen have been well justified. The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia and other members of the coalition, has been fighting for the past six months, losing precious lives in the process to help free the Yemeni people from the Al Houthis' repression.

In an editorial on Sunday, Gulf News said, "They are doing a magnificent job as more and more provinces are being liberated and the legitimate government was able to return to perform its duties on Yemeni land.

"There is another UAE story that is going on at the same time, but unfortunately it is not being highlighted by those interested in the Yemeni issue; it is the awesome humanitarian and aid campaign that is being undertaken by the brave people in the UAE armed forces and Emirates Red Crescent, especially in Aden, Yemen's second-largest city and its strategic port.

"Dozens of schools have been rebuilt and opened in Aden. Medical services have been restored.

"Security patrols can be seen touring the streets, fully equipped and trained by the UAE. The images of children going back to school are a testament to the UAE's genuine commitment to Yemen's stability and prosperity.

"The UAE has lost dozens of soldiers in the Yemen campaign heroes who have fallen to bring Yemen back on its feet. Nevertheless, its commitment to Yemen remains as solid as ever," concluded the Dubai-based daily. – Emirates News Agency, WAM -http://www.wam.ae/en/news/general/1395287388189.html
