The International Monetary Fund and World Bank Meetings, Dubai 2003 concluded last Thursday with a statement from James D. Wolfensohn, President of the WB, showering the praise on the highly successful event which impressed him to the extent of thinking of hiring Dubai staff to organise the next meetings in Switzerland.

Thousands of people were deployed to conduct the event in the best possible and most successful way. Among those were the 1,200-strong staff whose presence at the Dubai International Convention Centre (DICC), with their warm welcome smiles, helped a lot of guests feel at home.

On the instructions of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, Chairman of the Dubai 2003 Organising Committee, and the follow-up of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Minister of Defence, we selected the majority of the staff from among the UAE citizens because we wanted to represent the country and showcase not only our culture but also the traditions and hospitability of Arabs, Al Noori said.
