Beirut - Three UAE relief planes arrived in Beirut yesterday carrying a total of 70 tonnes of relief supplies. This in addition to some 150 tonnes of relief items shipped to Beirut via the sea by the Red Crescent Society (RCS). This latest consignment will bring the volume of UAE aid to 220 tonnes.

"As ordered by President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, we will send two planes laden with relief supplies daily. Rehabilitation of schools and hospitals will also continue", said Mohammed Sultan Saif Al Suweidi, UAE ambassador to Lebanon.

Suweidi added that the Lebanese society was appreciative of the support provided by the UAE during the month-long conflict in Lebanon. The UAE has provided thousands of tonnes in relief supplies to Lebanon. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
