The world's best divers arrived in Dubai on Monday ahead of the second leg of the FINA/Midea Diving World Series 2013, which is being held at the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Sports Complex on March 21-23.

The FINA/Midea Diving World Series event runs over three days, starting with the 10m platform synchron finals on Thursday from 10am-12pm, followed by the opening ceremony at 5pm and 3m springboard synchro finals from 6pm-8pm.

Friday's 3m individual springboard semi finals session runs from 10-12noon, with the finals from 5-7pm. The final day of competition on March 23 sees the 10m platform semi-finals from 10am-12pm, followed by the finals from 5pm-7pm. The divers flew in from Beijing after competing in the first round of the series last weekend.

Following the event in Dubai the competition heads to Edinburgh, Moscow, and Guadalajara, Mexico, before finishing in Mexico City on May 24-26.

China again demonstrated the incredible depth of talent in their diving team, with several new synchronised combinations competing for the first time in Beijing.

The absence of some seasoned performers and experienced teams did nothing to slow the Chinese juggernaut though, and they kicked off the series with a clean sweep of all the gold medals on offer.

The 3m springboard individual men's world champion He Chong teamed up with London 3m synchro gold medallist Qin Kai for the first time to take out the 3m springboard synchro event ahead of Russia's Ilya Zakharov and Evgeny Kuznetsov.

Qin Kai took the 3m synchro gold in London with Luo Yutong, ahead of the Russian pair, so will be happy with his first outing with He Chong beside him.

Qin went on to make it a golden double, taking the individual 3m gold ahead of team mate He, with Zakharov in third.

In the women's 10m platform synchro, world and Olympic champion Chen Roulin of China teamed up with Liu Huixia, also for the first time, to take the gold ahead of Olympic bronze medallists, Canadians Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion, with Russia's Yulia Koltunova and Natalia Goncharova in third. – The Gulf Today
