Due to a review of its project procurement strategy, Tourism Development and Investment (TDIC), has recalled the concrete works tender of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi museum. "This work, which forms a part of the multiple work contracts that make up the project, will be retendered at a future date, and all renewed interest from contractors will be welcome", according to the statement issued by the company yesterday.
It added that Guggenheim Abu Dhabi museum is devoted to contemporary art. Construction of the museum has started and key accomplishments to date are: Land reclamation has been completed, design and build of seawall completed, design and installation of building, foundation piles completed, and design is progressing and is due for completion in early 2012.
"Comprehensive programmes are underway to train the expertise that will operate the museum. The art collection continues to grow and a series of focus groups with international experts are taking place to discuss areas related to the development of the future museum's curatorial and educational programming", the company said. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
