It's that time of the year when classics begin to rain down, drenching all from the connoisseur to the layman. Yes, the second season of Abu Dhabi Classics begins on October 23 with a fitting start — Beethoven, to be performed by the New York Philharmonic, a giant interpreted by giants.
And, the impressive line-up of other performances to come until May next year are sure to keep the high pitch. The performances by some of the world's best musicians presenting some of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written, to be held at Emirates Palace in the capital, will also take place at Al Jahili Fort in Al Ain.
Apart from the New York Philharmonic, Mahler and Brahms, the Radio France Philharmonic performing Ravel and Berlioz, the Dresden Staatskapelle performing Mozart, the Vienna Philharmonic performing Debussy, there will be Disney and Santa Claus concerts for children, including a surprise Valentine's Day gala concert, the magic of opera in Verdi's ‘La Traviata' and ‘Rigoletto'. The line-up also includes a Wagner Opera Gala and the ‘Best of British', the last night gala performed by BBC Concert Orchestra. – Khaleej Times
