Tunis - Tunisian dailies today highlighted the significance of the visit to Tunisia by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai to Tunisia. In its editorial of yesterday, the independent "Alchourouk" said the UAE is the top foreign direct investor in Tunisia, thereby becoming Tunisia's indispensable trade partner and an international side that the country should maintain strong ties with at all levels.

"The Arab dream will never be established without economic partnership, nor would it be entrenched without the pushing forward of economic ties and the expansion of the scope of financial interest among the countries in the region," the Arabic daily said in its editorial titled "Tunisia-UAE and the Arab world", adding that the UAE-Tunisia relations had got the blessings and the praises they deserved and are being regarded as a way towards achieving the greater goal of Arab economic, financial and trade integration.

Another independent Arabic daily described as "great event' the visit to Tunisia by Sheikh Mohammed. "Al Sabah" said the visit consolidates Tunisia's bet on activating Arab cooperation, particularly with the Gulf states which have achieved outstanding results in the world of business, finance and investment. The paper described UAE-Tunisia ties as "a model of successful intra-Arab ties".

"La Presse", a government mouth-piece, also highlighted the significance of Sheikh Mohammed's visit. The French daily said the unique ties between the UAE and Tunisia came to crown the continuous bilateral consultation and coordination drive embarked upon by the two countries, adding that the visit would open a wider horizon in the two countries' bilateral ties.

The paper commended the UAE development policy and outlined areas of similarity in those policies, noting that the bilateral ties between the UAE and Tunisia were highly promising for inter-Arab relations and constructive partnership. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
