Tripoli - Visiting UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash and Undersecretary of Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed Abdul Aziz signed yesterday minutes of meetings of Joint UAE- Libya Committee which envisage bilateral cooperation in various areas of economy, trade, security and justice.
A joint statement issued at the end of the January 17-18 trip of Dr. Gargash to Libya at the kind invitation of Libya's Foreign Minister Ashour bin Khayal, said the UAE minister had talks with Chairman of the Libyan Transitional Council (LTC) Mustafa Abdul Galil and interim Prime Minister Abdurrahim al-Keib during he conveyed best wishes of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan ,Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
As he conveyed congratulations of the government and people of the UAE on the victory of the glorious 17th February revolution, Dr. Gargash said the UAE was proud of that triumph. He also expressed commitment of the UAE government to further bolstering its brotherly relations with Libya.
The Libyan leaders said they were grateful to the UAE for its sublime stances towards the Libyan revolution, for its support for the Libyan people and for its pledge to contribute to reconstruction in Libya.
While in Tripoli, Dr. Gargash held a series of meetings with Libyan deputy premier and ministers of transport, economy, oil and gas, and social affairs.
Abu Dhabi and Tripoli expressed their satisfaction at the progress the bilateral relations have made and asserted their resolve to exert more efforts and energies to expand joint cooperation in various economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and development fields.
The UAE minister along with Libyan Minister of Transport Yussef Al-Whishi graced a ceremony to mark Etihad Airways' launch of its maiden flight from Abu Dhabi to Tripoli on Tuesday, the airline's first new destination of 2012. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
