The UAE and the Federal Republic of Germany has agreed to bolster bilateral ties in various areas, including trade and investment, education, environment and extradition of criminals. The agreement was announced at the end of the 4th meetings of the joint UAE-German committee which concluded here today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meetings culminated in agreements on mutual co-operation in the areas higher education, mutual legal and judicial assistance, water and electricity, health, industry and technology. While expressing satisfaction on the current level of bilateral co-operation, the two sides, nevertheless, underlined the need for exchange of trade delegates during trade promotional exhibitions.

They also stressed the need for exploiting the investment opportunities availed by the two countries for businessmen. The UAE side noted the imbalance on its trade exchange with Germany and accordingly stressed the need for increasing its exports. It was agreed that a meeting between UAE exporters and German importers be held soon to bridge the existing gap in trade exchange. On the area of judicial and legal co-operation, the UAE side presented two draft agreements on mutual cooperation on judicial and legal matters, including extradition of criminals. Other areas covered included expedition of visa services to UAE nationals seeking entry to Germany.
