Saif Saeed bin Saed, Foreign Ministry's Under Secretary, and his Italian counterpart Senator Alfredo Luigi today reviewed the war against terrorism, the situation of Afghanistan, the Middle East conflict and the situation of the Horn of Africa. Saeed called upon the US, Russia and the European Union to put pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Sharon to comply with the international resolutions and to return to the peace talks with the Palestinians. He said that the Palestinians had complied with all agreements beginning from the Oslo agreement to the Mitchel report. He re-iterated the UAE's denunciation of all terrorism in all its forms, but called for the distinction between terrorism and occupied people's legitimate struggle for independence. The Italian official praised the UAE's support for the Somali people in the Horn of Africa and for extending assistance to the Afghani people. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
