The UAE-Switzerland Political Consultations Committee met yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual concern and share views on a variety of regional and international topics.

The meeting was co-chaired by Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, and Wolfgang Amadeus Bruelhart, Assistant State Secretary for Middle East and North Africa Division, Swiss Federal Department for Foreign Affairs (FDFA).

Al Jarman lauded the UAE-Switzerland political partnership as 'excellent' in terms of bilateral and multilateral domains, emphasising the UAE's keenness to further bolster these ties in the light of aspirations and directives of the countries' higher leaderships for serving mutual objectives and interests and fulfilling ambitions of the friendly peoples.

For his part, the Swiss official stressed the depth of bilateral ties in all walks of life and welcomed efforts being made to make a breakthrough in these relations.

At the end of the meeting, Al Jarman called on the Swiss side to expand the scope of bilateral and multilateral cooperation and elevating these to advance the existing strategic partnership. He noted that the recent launch of Solar Impulse 2, a Swiss long-range experimental solar-powered aircraft project, from the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi marked a new milestone in the strong bilateral ties and contributes to raising awareness about the importance of clean energy and sustainable development, and fosters innovation and entrepreneurship in clean energy across the world. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
