A UAE top official described his country's ties with Syria as a model of inter-Arab relations. Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of Communications, said the UAE-Syrian relations needed to be further enhanced " particularly at this critical time.” Al Tayer made his remarks in a meeting held here today between UAE and Syrian delegations.

The UAE official pointed out that both sides would consider the chances of increasing air flights between their two countries. Syrian Transport Minister Makram Obeid, who is leading his country's delegation currently visiting here, said they intend to make use of UAE's advanced transport facilities. " To this end, we have explored the possibility of having Syrian civil aviation crews trained and our airplanes repaired and serviced here,” he added.

Obeid said his visit would yield " positive results " in the field of transportation, adding that the accords signed by both countries would help boost bilateral relations. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
