UAE-US relations vibrant and friendly: Bloomfield

Lincoln Bloomfield, US Assistant Secretary of State for Political and Military Affairs has said that the UAE and the US have continued to enjoy vibrant and friendly relations at both people and government levels. The US official who is currently on a visit to the UAE expressed confidence that relations between the two countries would continue to grow. Cooperation on various fields, including the military sphere would also prosper, he added. Bloomfield hailed the UAE support to international efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"The UAE has been very supportive to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan and played a vital role to help bring stability in the region,” he said. He told a press conference in Abu Dhabi yesterday that his visit to UAE was aimed at meeting officials to assess and evaluate the situation in the region and also discuss various issues, including issues pertaining to Iraq and Iran.
