Hanover - Hanover yesterday hosted the Abu Dhabi Industrial Forum, organised by the Arab/German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Berlin and the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Transport of the German state of Lower Saxony.

A number of dignitaries, including Walter Hirche, Lower Saxony's Minister of Economy, Labour and Transport and the state's Deputy Prime Minister, attended the forum, in which Abu Dhabi Emirate was represented by the Department of Planning and Economy, the Higher Corporation for Specialised Economic Zone (ZonesCorp) and the Abu Dhabi Sea Ports Company.

In his address, UAE's Ambassador to Germany, Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmoud, stressed on the strong bilateral ties between the UAE and the Federal Republic of Germany, which, he said, had now reached a level of "strategic partnership" in all areas.

He said these ties were further strengthened by the several exchange of visits of the two countries' officials, adding that those visits were crowned last February with a visit to the UAE by German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, who led a high-ranking economic delegation that included the Federal Minister of Economy and Technology, Michael Glos.

On German export to the UAE, the Ambassador said total export to the UAE last year stood at over five billion Euros, which represents 25% of Germany's total export to the Arab world, in general.

The UAE Ambassador urged German companies and investors to seize the opportunities provided by the UAE investment-friendly legislations and excellent facilities to invest in the country. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
