UAE Permanent Representative to United Nations office in Geneva Ambassador Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, underlined support of the UAE to the Arab group and Organisation of Islamic Conference statements on the humanitarian rights of Palestinian people. He also thanked John Dogard, former human rights rapporteur in the occupied Palestinian territories, who reported the humanitarian suffering underwent by the Palestinian people to the international community despite pressures no to do so.

Speaking before the eighth session of the human rights council being held in Geneva, Al Zaabi said the occupied Palestinian territories "are inhabited by over 3.7 million people, who suffer series of violations in their movement, health, education, work and other basic rights. The occupying authorities condone their crimes against unarmed Palestinian People". He noted that about 1.5 million Palestinian people at Gaza strip underwent siege for almost a year in which they suffered direct military threats.

Al Zaabi noted that the Palestinian authorities are seriously grappling to restore security at the territories under their jurisdiction in order to execute health, water, roads and environmental projects, calling upon the international community to focus and immediately cease the Israeli aggressive procedures on the Palestinian people. He added that the Palestinians are awaiting implementation of reformation and development plans proposed by international conferences in Paris and Annapolis. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
