Chicago - UAE Ambassador to USA Youssef Al-Otaibah underscored the promotion of existing strategic relations in all areas.

In statements to WAM during a current Chicago visit by business delegation from Abu Dhabi to mark the launch of Etihad Airway's direct service to the American city, Al-Otaibah said the past ten years enjoyed strong growth, thanks to the efforts of the leaderships of the two countries.

The UAE is among the USA's top partners in the Middle East with US$ 16 billion in trade in 2008, he noted.

The new Chicago service is set to become an important driver to the airline's future growth, Al-Otaibah remarked.

In September 2009, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, launched the first-ever nonstop service between Chicago and Abu Dhabi. It's the first direct air route between Chicago and the Arabian Gulf.

The UAE Ambassador said Chicago is a major global city and a plays a role in global economic decisions. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
