The UAE Committee for the Coordination of Humanitarian Foreign Aid, headed by Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of International Cooperation and Development, has launched the Humanitarian Emergency Response Manual, prepared by the Ministry in partnership with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).

The manual is a major source of information and guidance for all workers in the international humanitarian field, who are trying to provide a helping hand to victims of disasters and humanitarian crises.

During the committee's meeting, Sheikha Lubna said that improving the efficiency of those who work in the humanitarian field is a top priority in the UAE, highlighting the importance of better coordination with international humanitarian organisations to unify various efforts.

The meeting reviewed the achievements of the UAE Compassion campaign, Tarahmu, launched by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the follow-up of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as the value of donations rose to about Dh230 million for the relief of refugees and displaced persons during the winter, in addition to about 750 tons of in-kind aid worth a further Dh20 million.

A number of senior officials attended the meeting of the committee. – Emirates News Agency, WAM –
