UAE Embassies in South Africa and Thailand celebrate National Day

The UAE Embassy in South Africa yesterday celebrated the 31st National Day with a ceremony participated by a number of South African officials and foreign diplomats. In a statement on the occasion, Ali Thani Al Suweidi, UAE Ambassador, praised the level of relations between the UAE and South Africa. South African Education Minister, Kadir Ashmal, who attended the ceremony also lauded the level of ties between the two countries. He also conveyed to the Ambassador the greetings of South African President Thabo Mbeki to President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and to the UAE people.

Meanwhile, the UAE Ambassador to Thailand, Salem Isa Al Qattam Al Za'abi, hosted a similar ceremony on the occasion of the country's National Day anniversary. He commended Sheikh Zayed's keen interest to strengthen ties with Thailand in various fields. A documentary on the progress achieved by the UAE over the years was also screened during the ceremony. A number of Thai officials and foreign diplomats attended the function. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
