AMMAN: The UAE Embassy in Jordan has handed over US$74.117 in rent payments for 11 Iraqi Christian refugee families in the Kingdom.

Ambassador of the UAE to Jordan, Bilal Rabea Al Bodour, presented Father Rifat Bader, director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media and head of the Catholic Church in Naour, a district on the west side of Amman, with the financial aid, donated by the Emirates Red Crescent.

In 2015, the agency paid rents for the same group of refugees.

The ambassador said the Emirati humanitarian agency's aid comes as part of its humanitarian obligation towards brotherly Arabs and stressed that the UAE provides humanitarian aid to people across the world.

He stressed that the UAE has interest in supporting Jordan in this sphere.

For his part, Father Bader and representatives of Christian refugees in Jordan expressed great appreciation for the UAE's aid.

They also praised the peaceful coexistence and religious tolerance in the UAE, and said these values are being promoted by the leadership and the country's people. – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395295794489.html
