UAE Embassy in Australia celebrates National Day

Canberra - The UAE Ambassador to Australia, Khalifa Bakheit Al Falasi, yesterday held a ceremony on the occasion of the UAE's 31st National Day in the city of Perth, capital of Western Australia. Present at the ceremony were a number of Australian officials, businessmen and media representatives. In a statement on the occasion, Falasi said that the UAE foreign policy was based on co-operation, mutual respect and good relations. He said that relations between Australia and the UAE had seen a rapid progress since 1997 as the trade between the two countries totalled Dhs4.5 million.



The West Australian Chief Minister who also made a statement lauded the level of ties between the UAE and Australia. He said that Australia's official policy was to strengthen trade and investment between the two countries, noting that he had led a 92-strong delegation of businessmen and investors in October to the UAE. He called upon Australian investors to increase their projects in the UAE, welcoming also UAE businessmen to invest in Australia. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
