UAE Embassy in Indonesia oversees RCS projects

Jakarta - The UAE Embassy the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, have started implementing a number of assistance projects of the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS. The Embassy in supervising the execution of the projects, which include seasonal ones like the distribution of Iftar meals for poor and needy Muslims observing the fast of Ramadan and the distribution of Zakat (Alms), as well as other charity projects, being executed in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to support charity and humanitarian projects is Arab and Islamic countries .



Ahmed Ali Khamis Al Hossani, Charge' d'Affaires at the UAE Embassy, is supervising the projects, in collaboration with the Jakarta branch of the Indonesian Red crescent Society and a number of other charity organisations. The projects include, the construction of mosques, schools, hospitals, drilling of water wells, distribution of 1,000 Iftar meals a day to fasters throughout the holy month of Ramadan and the distribution of Zakat.



The RCS is one of the most popular organisations in Indonesia. the organisation has built two immigrants villages in Cerbon and Aceh districts. The UAE Embassy has been executing annually a number of charity projects in Indonesia, including the Iftar meal distribution, provision of assistance to poor families and orphans, distribution of Zakat and Eid clothing. The Embassy has distributed 120 tonnes of dates in various parts of the country before the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
