Islamabad - The UAE Embassy in Pakistan has started implementing the humanitarian programme of the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) aimed at meeting the requirements of the victims of the 2005 earthquake that hit the northern part of the country and Kashmir, as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.

Acting on behalf of the UAE Ambassador, Faisal Al Za'abi, a staff of the Embassy, distributed a cargo of dates which arrived from Abu Dhabi, to the people of Balakot and other areas affected by the earthquake.

According to the UAE Ambassador, Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, the gesture was part of the UAE's continuous assistance. He said it was a continuation of the good and charity works initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and sustained by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, adding that the RCA had adopted a number of healthcare and social projects and was planning to rehabilitate the education sector by rebuilding the schools in the affected areas.
