Singapore - The UAE Embassy in Singapore has held a reception to mark the 36th UAE National Day. A number of senior Singaporean government officials, including Hawazi Daipi, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Minister of Manpower, Mr. Arthur Fong and Dr. Faisal Ibrahim, both members of parliament, as well as heads of diplomatic missions, businessmen and UAE nationals residents in Singapore, attended the reception.

In his key note address, Asim Mirza Al Rahmah, Minister Plenipotentiary and Charge d'Affaires at the UAE Embassy, conveyed his congratulations and best wishes to President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council Rulers of the Emirates, as well as Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the happy occasion.

He said December 2 will always be a day of honour in the history of the UAE, adding that despite its short history, the UAE has taken giant strides in progress and has been transformed into modern developed state.

On bilateral relations between the UAE and Singapore, Al Rahmah said bilateral trade has reached 11.6 billion Singaporean dollar with more leading companies from UAE operating from Singapore. "The UAE is keen to further strengthen economic and trade cooperation between our countries to strengthen its role as a gateway for each other in their respective region through the strategic economic partnership with Singapore through Abu Dhabi," he said.

He thanked the government and the friendly people of the Republic of Singapore for their cooperation and genuine support, which, he said, enabled him to discharge his duties efficiently. "The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates reiterates its commitment to guard and further strengthen these genuine relations and cooperation between our two friendly countries," he added.
