UAE RCA celebrates 27th anniversary

Celebrating its 27th anniversary, the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has renewed its commitment towards its noble goals in the national, regional and international level.

The remarks were made by RCA Secretary General, Mohammed Khalifa Al Qamzi at a ceremony held last night at the Armed Forces Club in the occasion of establishing the RCA in accordance with the international standards.

Al Qamzi said that RSA was entering a new era to carry out its humanitarian and charitable work to support friendly and sisterly peoples in the times of difficulty. This is being implemented by national expertise to achieve the targeted strategic plans .These efforts are done to further strengthen the pioneering position UAE holds in the field of humanitarian work regionally and internationally.

He stressed the nobility of UAE RCA message during 27th year of achievements since its establishment. "We are witnessing our long march of great achievements to reach what we aim to in our humanitarian message," he said.

He added that these efforts had fruitful consequences for those in need for humanitarian, health, social and educational aid.

He added that RCA has financed projects, and relief programmes at a total value of AED three billion since the date of its establishment .RCA has also been supporting the targeted demographics in several continents, especially the areas hit by natural calamities via orphanages -care programmes and providing healthcare service, in addition to building schools, hospitals and digging wells in the areas hit by drought.

He added that these efforts were praised by international authorities and organisations due to the charitable nature of Emirati people and residents. He expressed his gratitude to the leading donors who had great achievements in this field.

He stressed the obstacles and challenges that humanitarian work faces under the effect of current events in the whole world that needs to double the efforts to upgrade performance and thinking in all levels. "We need new work strategy that copes with the upcoming era," Al Qamzi said.

He also called for adopting new approach and moving towards decentralisation on the level of RCA branches. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
