A relief plane carrying 35 tonnes of relief supplies from the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, yesterday arrived in Khartoum as part of the UAE RCS air bridge to help displaced people in Sudan's western region of Darfur. Upon arrival, the RCS delegation headed by Salim Al Suweidi, was received by Salim Mohammed Al Shamsy, Charge d' Affaires of the UAE embassy in Khartoum and the Sudanese RCS Representative.

The UAE diplomat said that the humanitarian assistance comes in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and close follow up of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who is also UAE RCS Chairman to alleviate sufferings of the population in that region.
