The UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, has come to the rescue of 3,000 Tajik pilgrims, stranded at the Sharjah Airport as they arrived without transit visa and other necessary documents which would allow them to pass through the UAE by land to the holy lands of Makkah and Madina to perform the Haj.

The Sharjah branch of the RCS quickly dispatched an emergency assistance to alleviate their sufferings and facilitate the necessary transactions needed to get them through. In a statement, Sanaa Darwish Al Kitbi, RCS Secretary General, commended H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah for his assistance, which provided a quick solution to the problems of the pilgrims. She also commended all related UAE authorities for quickly facilitating the RCS' efforts to bail out the pilgrims to enable them continue their pilgrimage to the holy lands.

She said that the RCS was committed to giving the necessary assistance to stranded pilgrims by providing for them food, medicine and blankets, but urged all Haj contractors and those responsible for the transporting of pilgrims, both inside the UAE and from abroad, to ensure that they have complied with all the rules and regulations and processed all the necessary documentations to avert any inconvenience.
