UAE RCS meet with Iranian Counterpart

A delegation from the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, headed by the RCS Board Chairman, Khalifa Nasir Al Suweidi, currently on a visit to this Iranian town, met with its Iranian counterpart to coordinate plans on how best to provide relief assistance to the increasing number of Afghan refugees in Iran. According to Yunus Afi, Director of the Iranian Red Crescent Society in Mashad, The Tehran Headquarters of the Iranian Red crescent Society had approved the setting up of six large refugee camps on the Iran-Afghanistan border, near the Afghanistan town of Herat, adding that work on the camps, which are expected to be ready in two days time to accommodate the refugees, had started today. Meanwhile, a second planeload of relief assistance from Abu Dhabi is expected to arrive here on Thursday. A third and fourth ones are expected here on Friday and Saturday respectively.
