The UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, is sponsoring the Sheikh Sallama bint Butti Specialised Eye Hospital In Nablus, West Bank, at a cost of US dollars 3 million. The hospital provides free medical services for 2 million Palestinians. The hospital is situated on an area of 5,000 Square meters, on the Northern Eastern area of the city. It provides medical care for the Palestinians living in and around the city. Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Hanbali, Chairman of Zakat Committee in Nablus, which is supervising the project, said that the UAE RCS has offered the biggest assistance to the hospital, agreeing to pay US dollars 300,000 for the expenses of the hospital's infrastructure and facilities.

In an interview with the mission of the Emirates News Agency, WAM, who visited the hospital to report on its future plans, Dr. Hanbali added that this project is considered one of the most modern medical projects in Palestine, similar to that of Al Buqa'a Hospital in Al Quds. However, the services provided in the latter is at present of limited standard, due to constant closures and curfews imposed by the Israeli occupation forces on the Palestinian towns and cities, Hanbali added.
