UAE RCS wins Spanish Red Cross Gold Medal

Madrid - Spanish Queen Sofia today presented the 2004 Gold Medal of the Spanish Red Cross to Khalifa Nasir Al Suwaidi, Board Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, in recognition of the RCS' role in helping the efforts of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world and for its prominent role in delivering relief supplies to needy areas people worldwide.



For his side, Suwaidi thanked the Spanish Red Crescent, saying that the medal was a tribute to the UAE as well as to President H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and to H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. He added that he was also presenting the award to Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and RCS Chairman. Meanwhile, Sultan Rashid Al Kaitoub, UAE Ambassador in Spain, lauded the distinguished ties between the UAE and Spain. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
