UAE RC World Heart Surgery Team performs 12 surgeries in Rabat

Rabat - UAE Red Crescent World Team of Open-heart Surgery performed 12 open heart and catheter surgeries at Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rabat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the Moroccan Red Crescent.

Adel Al Shamri, the Emarati heart surgeon, Chairman of the UAE World Heart Team and President of the UAE Heart Group and Dr. Saleh Mousa Al Taei, Acting Red Crescent Authority Secretary General thanked the administration of Sheikh Zayed Hospital for receiving the patients who needed surgeries and preparing the operation rooms which helped in succeeding the mission dedicated to patients by the UAE Red Crescent Authority.

The UAE-Moroccan treatment program aims to offer the best health services to heart patients thru a strategic partnership, besides highlighting the specialized medical centres locally and globally in coordination with the selection of senior specialists in heart diseases and cardiac surgery. The program will last for a year and includes a number of events, symposiums and conferences.

The patients and their families on the other hand expressed their gratitude to this noble gesture offered by the UAE.

On their part, Dr. Al Husni Ameen, Director General of Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rabat and Abdul Salam Al Makroomi, Secretary General of Moroccan Red Crescent Society expressed their thanks for sending this UAE medical campaign to perform open heart surgeries, which strengthens the bonds of fraternal relationship between both countries.

Dr. Ameen pointed out that this is the second time that the medical team visits Morocco to perform surgeries for patients in need. But, what makes this one special is that it comes in a framework of a joint program that will be developed in three stages during the coming period.

Al Makroomi spoke highly about the size of projects and aid offered by the UAE RCA mentioning the project of building a catastrophe and emergency confrontation centre in Wajda zone.

He also called for the implementation of the campaign against eye diseases. This came during the UAE RCA's delegation visit to the Moroccan RCS.

The delegation, headed by Dr. Saleh Al Taei, visited the Moroccan Red Crescent Centre for eye diseases and participated in a consultative workshop to discuss the activation of international humanitarian law with the presence of specialists in the field of international law from the UAE, Kuwait and Morocco, and under the supervision of the International Committee of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

The RCA submitted a working paper in the light of the meeting organized lately in Abu Dhabi about activating the terms of the international humanitarian law to protect civilians in times of conflicts and wars, especially protecting humanitarian relief convoys and facilitating its efforts and humanitarian missions.
