As per the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with support from Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Red Crescent has dispatched a cargo plane carrying relief materials for the victims of the recent earthquake that hit eastern Turkey. Hundreds of people had died or wounded and many were displaced in the disastrous earthquake.

The plane carrying 100 tons of shelter materials is sent to enhance relief operations aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the quake victims and to improve humanitarian conditions.

The initiative, which is closely followed up by Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of Red Crescent Authority HH Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, comes within the framework of the country's efforts to reduce the humanitarian hardships caused by natural disasters. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
