Islamabad - HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai held talks here with Pakistani Prime Minister Shawkat Aziz He was received at the airport by Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Interior Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Following is the full text of the press statement given by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on the occasion of his visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. "It is a pleasant occasion to visit the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in response to an invitation by President Perevez Musharraf.

Hopefully, my visit will allow us the opportunity to get familiar with development programmes and economic and service projects, etc. which are being carried out in Pakistan to the benefit of the Pakistani people under the sagacious leadership of the President and his government.

We are confident that our visit to a friendly country will contribute to enhancing our bilateral relations and usher in a new phase of fruitful cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, which will cap the historical friendly relations between our two countries and peoples.

I would like to point out that economic relations based on reciprocal trust and mutual interest among nations in a globalise world, are permanent and serve as bridges for human, cultural and social communication among various civilizations and political regimes, no matter how ramified their ideologies and trends are since economy and economic cooperation were and still are the focus of international relations."
