A UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) aid plane landed in Kabul yesterday as part of its airbridge to help the Afghan people. The plane, the 28th of its kind, was carrying tonnes of foodstuff, equipment and other relief items. Chairman of the Afghan Red Crescent Society Gura Yezdayar, who visited the UAE, was on board. Coordinator of the RCS's Afghanistan Relief Operation Faraj Al Fahd said repatriation of refugees of Chaman camp was progressing well. 'So far, 1,147 refugees have been taken home voluntarily in coordination with the UN agencies,' he said, noting that each family willing to go back home will be given a tent, a cocktail of foodstuff for two months and amount of money to help it settle down at home. Since the break out of war in Afghanistan, the RCS has airlifted thousands of tonnes of relief supplies to refugees camps in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
