UAE aid workers in Yemen to launch second phase of Khalifa's Dh500 million food aid

Hadida, Yemen - Aid workers from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation is in Yemen to prepare for the launch of the second phase of the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan's Dh500 million food aid for Yemeni people.

The delegation met with Akram Abdullah Attiya, Governor of Hadida, and Juma Khamis Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of Hadida City Council, to discuss mechanisms and timeline for implementing the second phase of aid assistance to alleviate suffering of underprivileged families.

The delegation then took a field tour of the city to assess the humanitarian situation on the ground and decide the course of action.

President Khalifa has assigned the Foundation to buy food items from the local markets in Yemen in order to stimulate the country's economy. He has also ordered The Foundation to provide assistance directly to the Yemeni people by establishing distribution outlets in different regions of the country so as the recipients can get the assistance as soon as possible.

The Governor of Hadida paid tribute to the UAE for its honourable national and humanitarian stances not only towards Yemen but also towards all peoples of Arab and Islamic countries.

He also lauded charitable operations the UAE relief organisations, in particular the Khalifa Foundation, are carrying out in Yemen. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
