Amman: The UAE ambassador to Jordan, Nasser Sultan Al Ameri, inspected the Emirates World Mobile Humanitarian Hospital in Mafraq City, north of Jordan, on Tuesday.

The specialist centre provides free medical care for Syrian refugees.

During the visit, the diplomat met with Jordanian doctors, health professionals and technicians, administrators and volunteers who jointly run the mobile clinic serving more 20,000 Syrians displaced to the Jordanian northern city.

Operating the field hospital reflects the strong relations between the UAE and Jordan, the ambassador said in remarks during the visit.

He praised the Jordanian authorities and aid agencies for facilitating the deployment of the mobile unit to alleviate the suffering of refugees.

Head of the Jordanian Red Crescent, Dr Mohammad Al Hadeed, hailed the efforts by the UAE team and expressed appreciation for the support extended to the refugees by the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The hospital which treats a wide range of diseases also has a psychological support unit and a care centre for children and the elderly. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
