Damascus - A UAE freight plane carrying 15 fully-equipped ambulances landed yesterday at Damascus International Airport as part of medical assistance pledged by the UAE to Lebanon.

The 15 ambulances constituted the first batch of 24 medical vans ordered by President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as part of efforts to help offer medical aid to the Lebanese wounded and injured as a result of Israel's continued aggression against Lebanon. The remaining 9 ambulances will be dispatched tomorrow.

Delivery of these ambulances to the Lebanese health authorities will take place under the supervision of the UAE Embassy in Damascus in coordination with the UAE mission in Lebanon. The Syria has shown good cooperation, ordering its concerned authorities to extend all facilities necessary to secure delivery of these medical supplies to Lebanon. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
