UAE and Turkey sign agreement on security cooperation

The UAE and Turkey yesterday signed an agreement on training and security cooperation. The agreement provides for bilateral security cooperation in the areas of combating terrorism, organised crimes, drug-trafficking, money laundering, economic crimes, IT crimes, gun and ammunition smuggling in addition to all forms of forgery. The agreement also entails exchange of information on the aforementioned crimes or other crimes as may be specified by the two parties.



The agreement also contains provisions on training, exchange of expertise and legislation. An implementation mechanism for the agreement has also been specified, including a joint follow up committee. The agreement was signed on behalf of the UAE by General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan , Minister of Interior and for Turkey by his counterpart Abdulkadir Aksu. (Emirates News Agency, WAM)
