UAE and Turkey are currently joining hands to deliver urgent relief assistance to the brotherly Libyan people, UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed last Friday.

In a joint press conference with his visiting Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoğlu before capping a two-day working visit to the UAE, Sheikh Abdullah announced that two Emirati aid planes would fly tomorrow to Turkey and then to Libya to meet the urgent needs of the Libyan people.

"The UAE is sending two planes, to be based in Turkey, to send humanitarian aid from Turkey to Libya," Sheikh Abdullah said. "We will do everything possible to reach out to Libya in humanitarian ways," the Turkish minister said.

The Emirati and Turkish ministers affirmed their countries' standing beside the brotherly Libyan people, wishing them better future. They said that Abu Dhabi and Ankara would be extremely happy if that happens.

The two ministers also condemned the acts of violence and killing and destruction of infrastructure, calling on the Libyan authorities to immediately refrain from the use of violence and act to stop bloodshed. They also expressed heart-felt condolences to the families of victims and wished speedy recovery to those injured.

Sheikh Abdullah and his Turkish counterpart opened earlier in the day the renovated building of the Turkish Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu described UAE as a very close friend of Turkey. He said relations between UAE and Turkey were improving very quickly in recent years, adding, "We see UAE as the most important strategic ally of Turkey in the region." - Emirates News Agency, WAM
