MILANO: The Commissioner-General of Expo Milano 2015, Bruno Pasquino, has congratulated Italy, host of expo 2015, and the participating countries on the success of the Expo Milano and wished the UAE, the host of Expo 2020 in Dubai, good luck in organising the world's largest gathering.

The National Media Council is organising the UAE Pavilion at Expo Milano.

The Expo closes its doors on October 31 after five-month run. "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life" is the core theme of Expo Milano 2015, and this common thread runs through all the events organised both within and outside the official exhibition site.

Expo Milano 2015 is the Universal Exhibition that was inaugurated in Milan, Italy on May 1, and it closes on October 31, 2015. Over this six-month period, Milan became a global showcase where more than 140 countries showed the best of their technology that offered a concrete answer to a vital need: being able to guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium. In addition to the exhibitor nations, the expo also involved international organisations, and expects to welcome over 20 million visitors to its 1.1 million square metres of exhibition area.

Addressing the audience at the National Day of the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) on the eve of the conclusion of the expo, the commissioner-general applauded the insightful theme of Expo Dubai; Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.

Commissioner-General of the UAE Pavilion at Expo Milano, Salem Al Ameri and his deputy Abdullah Al Aidrous, attended the ceremony.

The BIE is the intergovernmental organisation in charge of overseeing and regulating all international exhibitions that last more than three weeks and are of non-commercial nature ("Expos"). Today, four main types of expos are organised under its auspices: World Expos, International Specialised Expos, Horticultural Exhibitions and the Design Triennale of Milan.

The BIE was established by the Convention Relating to International Exhibitions, signed in Paris on 22nd November 1928, with the following goals: to oversee the calendar, the bidding, the selection and the organisation of World Expositions to establish a regulatory framework under which expo organisers and participants may work together under the best conditions Expo Milano 2015 will pass the baton to the next Universal Exposition to be held in Dubai in 2020, from 20th October to 10th April, 2021. The discussion on the future of food will go to the one on sustainability, opportunity and mobility. In five years, the next Universal Exposition will take place in the most famous of the seven Emirates of the United Arab Emirates. The pavilion of the UAE was one of the most visited in Expo Milano 2015. Its shapes recall the sand dunes of the deserts, and it will be rebuilt in Masdar City, a city with low carbon emissions in the UAE, as it represents the principles of the ethics of sustainability of Masdar, one of the most futuristic smart cities in the world.

The Universal Exposition in Dubai will launch the celebrations for the country's Golden Jubilee. It will also be the departure point on which to build a sustainable and progressive vision for the forthcoming decades.

The theme chosen for the Universal Exposition in Dubai is "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future" and it recalls the spirit of collaboration and co-operation that has led the UAE to success in the exploration of new pathways of development and innovation. Through this theme, the Universal Exposition will be a catalyst, connecting the minds of the entire world and inspiring the participants to take action to meet shared challenges.

Sustainability, mobility, opportunity Expo 2020 Dubai has identified three sub-themes around which the global community will gather to sign new collaborations, in order to find solutions to essential matters and to leave the mark of a strong social and economic collaboration around the world. These are: * Sustainability: Progress and prosperity without compromising the needs of future generations * Mobility: Unblocking new possibilities for people and communities, contributing successfully to the future * Opportunity: Creating more intelligent and productive connections. – Emirates News Agency, WAM - http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395287349165.html
