The United Arab Emirates has underlined its support of international and regional efforts to bring about political stability in Afghanistan and step up the reconstruction process there. On his return from Kabul last Thursday, Ali Mohammed Al Shamsi, UAE's ambassador to Pakistan, told WAM that Afghan interior minister Ali Ahmed Jalali had briefed him on the progress of the Loya Jirga's discussions of Afghanistan's new constitution. Shamsi, who is also non-resident ambassador to Kabul, said he had conveyed to the Afghan official the UAE's support of efforts exerted to restore political stability in Afghanistan and wished the Loya Jirga success in adopting the country's constitution. Jalali, for his part, voiced gratitude to President H.H Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for helping the Afghan people to overcome their ordeal. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
