The UAE has slapped a ban on poultry and allied products from Egypt and India following outbreaks of bird flu in the two countries, a senior official said yesterday. The Ministry of Environment and Water has stopped chicken, eggs and other poultry products from these two countries entering the UAE. It enforces an earlier decision which banned the import of such products from bird flu-stricken countries and those suspected of having an outbreak of the deadly virus, said Majid Al Mansouri, spokesman of the National Committee for Emergency Response to Bird Flu. The committee, Al Mansouri said, has also advised ports and customs authorities and airlines to make sure that no poultry or allied products are transported into the UAE from these countries.
