The UAE Boxing Federation (UAEBF) has made a strong bid to host the World Youth Boxing Championship for Amateurs in December next year. The UAEBF President Sheikh Hamed bin Khadim bin Butti Al Hamed met Prof. Anwar Chowdhry, President of the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) here in Abu Dhabi on Saturday and discussed the UAE's bid. The World Youth Amateur Championship will first stage preliminary competitions in eleven different venues all over the world before the final 25 will be identified for the Championship. The UAEBF, which was established as an association as recently as 1999, was accorded a Federation status earlier this year. (The Gulf News)
