Beirut: More than ten thousand Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian families in a number of Lebanese regions have received meat of sacrificial animals from the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) of the United Arab Emirates on the occasion of Eid al-Adha.

The UAE Embassy in Beirut oversaw the distribution of the meat to the beneficiaries in Beirut, Bekaa Valley and Tripoli as part of RCA's Udhiyah (Sacrificial Animal) project for 2013.

On Eid al-Adha (Arabic for Feast of the Sacrifice), Muslims sacrifice one of their best domestic animals in the name of God, give away one-third of its meat to friends and neighbors and donating one-third or more of the meat to the poor and needy. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
