The UAE is committed to the Mako advanced training aircraft programme which is in its final stages, said a top official of the European consortium, EADS. The launch of its development is planned for 2004 and the feasibility study will be finalised this year. The UAE and EADS have working on the Mako programme since November 1999. The Mako advanced training aircraft is designed to meet the future need for cost effective advanced training, lead-in-fighter training and companion training. Operational and economic competitiveness are the main reasons for developing the aircraft. (The Gulf News)
