UAE condemns Israel's violations of human rights

New York - The United Arab Emirates has slammed Israel for its human rights record and demanded it to dismantle all the settlements and separation wall it built on occupied Arab lands.

The UAE further urged the United Nations to take the necessary measures to protect the Palestinian people, deliver humanitarian assistance to them, and help them improve their living conditions during their struggle for the liberation of their land.

"The United Arab Emirates, as it condemns Israel violations of human rights of the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian lands including East Jerusalem and other Arab people in the Occupied Syrian Golan, renews its support for the Palestinian people in their fight against the Israeli occupation and their right for self determination and the establishment of their independent state, Palestine with Al-Quds Al Sharif its capital," said Hamad Hareb Al-Habsi, Member of the permanent delegation to the UN, last night as he was addressing the fourth committee's debate on the report of the Special Committee to Investigate Israeli Practices Affecting the Human Rights of The Palestinian People and other Arabs of the Occupied Territories.

The UAE also called upon the international community to compel Israel to end its aggression and massacre of the Palestinian people immediately, refrain from violating their human rights, and comply to the provisions of the international laws, in particular the human rights instrument and the fourth Geneva Convention. "The perpetrators should be brought to the international justice," said Al Habsi in his statement.

The facts and numbers on the living conditions of the Palestinian people and other Arabs in the Syrian Golan, Al Habsi went on to say, clearly reflect the wide scope of the flagrant violations of human rights, war crimes, and the state terrorism committed systematically by Israel, the occupying power, against those people in violation of all international laws and conventions.

"Since September of 2000, until the present, Israel has continued to use excessive force through brutal military attacks against the Palestinian civilians using advanced heavy internationally prohibited weapons, which are killing civilians and destroying houses in Gaza and the West Bank," he noted.

Israel, he added is attempting to aggravate the people's economic and social hardship in order to force them to leave their lands, so it can expand the settlements and bring more Israeli settlers.

"Israel continues, until this minute, to occupy the Arab Syrian Golan, and to violate the human rights of the Arab people, including the right to work and the right for education.

"It purposefully puts obstacles in their way to find jobs, arbitrarily fires them from work, neither pays them regularly nor provides them with health care, and subjects Arab people to arbitrary detention, torture and humiliation. Israel continues to expand in building settlements and tries to Judaism the region in an attempt to erase the Arabic identity of its people," Al Habsi stressed. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
