The UAE has condemned the assassination of prominent Lebanese journalist Samir Qaseer. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan , Minister of Information and Culture said that the journalist's murder was a despicable crime that targeted eradication of the freedom of the press and the right of citizens to know about the truth and that by employing the instruments of intimidation and harassment of journalists and preventing them from informing the Lebanese public of developments in their country's political scene.

Sheikh Abdullah extended heartfelt condolences to the Journalists and Reporters syndicates as well as to the depraved family of the deceased, affirming UAE's solidarity with them, and hoping that the UAE would join forces with the Lebanese people to stop the progress of whoever was operating to spread instability in Lebanon.
