A plane carrying 20 tonnes of emergency relief supplies, including tents and medicines left here for Kasala to deliver the items to victims of the devastating flood, which recently hit the town, killing and maiming scores of people and rendering thousand others homeless. The gesture, which was in line with the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler and Minister of Finance and Industry and his brother, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, was in solidarity with the Sudanese people and in line with the commitment of Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Mohammed to reach out to people in distress wherever they may be.

The flight, is one of six, chartered by the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity Foundation, in collaboration with the Al Maktoum Charity Organisation, to deliver assistance to the victims of the flood in Kasala, whose houses, farms and other properties were destroyed by the flood when the Al Qash River broke its bank. A delegation from the Mohammed bin Rashid Charity Foundation accompanied the plane to study closely the situation on the ground to recommend the necessary requirements of the victims.
