UAE development model is accessible to Arab states: Mohammed bin Rashid

Turmoils that some Arab countries are currently experiencing are of no use and will only shuttle the nation backward and our Arab people must opt for cooperation to achieve real development and building future for next generations, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said yesterday.

He emphasised that the UAE development model is accessible to all and 'our doors are open for sisterly and friendly people....... our State desires good and stability to sisterly Arab countries and people.' Sheikh Mohammed told more than 80 Libyan government leaders, who are participating in the Leaders Programme organised by Dubai School of Government and the Libyan Veterans Affairs Commission that cooperation in such training programmes between the UAE and Arab countries provides an opportunity for them to 'learn from us and we learn from them.' Sheikh Mohammed also attended part of a lecture on criteria and evaluation of government strategy.

Sheikh Mohammed hoped the Libyan government leaders would go back home with a clear vision on how to lead work teams each in his position, noting that a leader is the one who doesn't place barriers between him and clients whether from work teams or common people. A leader is the one who inspires and motivates his work team and lays the sound, clear vision through which they move ahead and implement it for the benefit of the nation and people.

The Vice President said: 'We in the UAE have learned from our experiments and from our fore-brothers. Every day we learn something new and innovate in a new field .... you are here to learn from us and we, on our part, learn from you. I am delighted to have you here with us and this is a good step for you on the path of learning, knowledge acquisition and addressing of challenges which we are facing every day like what the people of Arabia suffered in their early life from water shortage and natural resources and other life essentials.' Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of cooperation and mutual exchange of knowledge and experiences among the Arab so as to realise higher national interests of our people. He affirmed that the path of conflicts and disputes will lead to nowhere and will not benefit our people and history will register that.

Sheikh Mohammed said he was glad that a group of Libyan young leaders are here in the UAE to draw lessons from the UAE's successful experiment in development and government management, a model which we are proud of and ready to place it at the service of sisterly Arab counties and people.

Sheikh Mohammed noted that he was the first leader who called for promoting principles of inter-Arab cooperation, sharing knowledge and experience and harnessing available energies in each state as this is the fastest way to achieve quick progress in our broader Arab World.

At the early years of establishment, Sheikh Mohammed recalled, the UAE had gone through the same circumstances from building government entities, and improving their services to enhancing their role in the local community and abroad.

This, he noted, required us before everything to concentrate on building capacities of the UAE citizen and qualifying him to engage in the first phase of creating state institutions.

'We are concentrating on the citizen as the axis of government action and government policies and laws and we as leadership always give directives for removing barriers between the government agencies and the citizens.

Our principle is that satisfaction and happiness of people are realisable ends in our state without any excuses,' Sheikh Mohammed affirmed. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
