The UAE Embassy in Khartoum, in coordination with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, has started distributing 100 tonnes of dates to the Sudanese people as part of the humanitarian assistance campaign launched by the UAE Red Crescent Society, RCS, to reach out to the Sudanese poor and needy.

The assistance was distributed to the beneficiaries in various areas in Sudan and in the camps of the internally displaced persons here in the capital. Sudanese Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamed, has sent a letter of thanks to Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority for the gesture, which, he said, was part of a continued support for the Sudanese people by the UAE government and people in line with the directives of President H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al Nahyan. (The Emirates News Agency, WAM)
