An airplane carrying 40 tonnes of relief supplies from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian '&' Charity Establishment to quake-struck Haiti has left Dubai yesterday carrying 30 tonnes of relief supplies to quake-hit Haiti as part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate human suffering.

The latest UAE humanitarian aid flight to Haiti was sent upon directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, according to Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Establishment.

A delegation from the Establishment is onboard the humanitarian flight which is carrying canned food stuff and cereals and shelter materials. They will continue coordination of the delivery of the relief supplies to the affected population with Life for Relief and Development (Life), a US non-profit humanitarian charity involved in Haiti relief operations.

The UAE relief charity and its American-based partner Life started a joint emergency relief campaign immediately after the destructive earthquake hit the Caribbean nation last week. Food, water, medicines, medical supplies, clothing, and other emergency supplies are among the current most urgently-needed relief supplies the two organizations are providing. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
